So far, analysts have been positive about Inox Wind. “It’s about passion, focus and hard work,” he says. In retrospect, he feels that what helped him achieve this success was his decision to improve cost efficiency, have a lean team, constantly renegotiate the supply chain, and look at anything and everything which spells profitability. “Failing was never an option for me” he says. Not one to be bogged down by challenges, Devansh decided to ride out the storm. There were other teething problems, too, such as getting industry specialists to join the company, acquiring a massive land bank, getting the right technology, executing projects and building a brand in the market. Initially, the name ‘Inox’ worked against him because of its strong branding in the entertainment industry through its multiplex arm, Inox Leisure.“We had to convince them (investors) that we were a technology company with the infrastructure in the heavy duty wind power industry,” says Devansh. Infrastructure was dead, and wind is clearly a part of infrastructure,” he says. But from 2010-2013, there was policy paralysis in the country. One of the biggest challenges he faced was an unanticipated policy shift: In 2012, barely three years after Inox Wind was set up, the then Congress government withdrew key benefits, including a generation-based incentive.“Renewables is something that is driven by policy and political intent. “Some people may say, ‘You are born with a silver spoon, but it is very easy to lose it all in the third generation,” he says. “Inox Wind is set to become the most profitable company in the ($4 billion) Inox Group this fiscal,” he tells Forbes India.ĭevansh believes he cannot afford to fail because of the robust reputation that the Inox Group enjoys. He is confident of its continued success. A strong current order book of 1,200 megawatts (MW) and investor confidence place Inox Wind, and Devansh, in a sweet spot. And in five years, he steered the company onto the path of profitability-a rarity among local wind energy firms. With a corpus of Rs 40 crore borrowed from Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited, he started Inox Wind in 2009, at a time when major players like Suzlon and Bharat Forge were stumbling. But the Inox Group was looking to diversify, and given India’s energy deficit and the global thrust towards cleaner forms of energy, Devansh convinced his family of the power of wind. Neither his father nor his uncle Pavan (chairman and managing director of Inox Air Products) had prior experience in this sector. When he returned to India from the US in 2007, he shadowed his father Vivek (managing director, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited) for two years before deciding to enter the renewable energy sector. “We have a market cap of almost a billion-and-a-half dollars,” says Devansh, who, as director of his company, is the youngest family member to hold a position in the chemicals-to-multiplexes Inox Group. His company, Inox Wind, the renewable wind energy solutions provider, raised Rs 1,000 crore and was oversubscribed 18 times. In March 2015, the 28-year-old third-generation scion of Inox Group led one of the biggest initial public offerings (IPOs) that India has seen in the last two years. No one can accuse Devansh Jain of false pride. The Inox Group had no expertise in renewable energy, but backed by a successful IPO, third-generation scion Devansh Jain proved that there is profit in the sector Click the Add button next to Sites that can always use cookies.Ī now appears on your list of Sites that can always use cookies. To enable cookies for all websites that you visit using Opera, refer to the instructions under Manage cookies in pages in the following article from Opera help: Click Privacy & security ▸ Site Settings.Go to Menu (the O icon) ▸ Settings ▸ Advanced. If you prefer to enable JavaScript only for the domain, follow the steps below: To enable JavaScript for all websites that you visit using Opera, refer to the instructions under Manage JavaScript in pages in the following article from Opera help: This means that all webpages with a web address beginning (such as allow cookies. I know many found this book to have a very unique writing style, but I can't help but think how terrible and awkwardly written it was. I hated the prose, I felt nothing either way for the characters, this series ends here for me. The beginning was intriguing but there was so little plot beyond the romance that it quickly became tedious. But I'm sorry guys, I wasn't even entertained. There are a lot of things that, had they been there, could have convinced me to up this to two stars. I must be old-fashioned in my thinking that staying alive is kinda important. I'm like: "run, run, run!" but the characters are too busy swapping saliva. kissing when you are fleeing for your lives? I'm sure this is not the correct way of things, right? And yet it occurs in way too many young adult books. One was certainly there to complement the other, but it was the wrong way around.Īlso. This reminded me of Article 5 in that the dystopia was there to make the romance interesting. If there was a story then it drowned amidst the waves of overenthusiastic and flowery prose. But Shatter Me had way way way too much of everything (see what I did there?).Īnd story? What story? *sigh* It's about time we just opened up an entirely new genre called "Dystopian Romance" or alternatively "Romantic Dystopia", though I don't wish to be pessimistic, I'm pretty sure half the new releases of 2012 will make it into that category. I may have thought it was an interesting literary technique. However, there was one thing that for me was even more annoying than the descriptions, the similes, the strikes, and that was the stupid repetition thing: "and then and then and then." Again, if it had been used once, or sparingly even, then it wouldn't be so bad. People didn't exaggerate: it will most likely drive you crazy. But you have no idea how bloody annoying this is to read. I actually thought it sounded interesting, unusual, especially because the whole thing is meant to be written in a notebook and I cross stuff out in mine all the time. Trust me, no really, trust me, I thought people were being overly picky when they said the crossed out sentences were annoying. WHAT? This is one example floating around in there, but every second sentence is like this! That's not even mentioning the annoying strike-outs. Until it spins around and lies with lips and teeth carved into semblance of something too passive to punch." "Hate looks like everybody else until it smiles. Shatter Me's numerous metaphors, similes, and endless descriptions just didn't make sense. I have a high tolerance level for flowery writing. For example, some reviewers thought that Lips Touch: Three Times was just a mess of bloated purple prose, whereas I thought it was one of the most beautiful books I read last year. I think there's a fine line in writing between the pretty and the purplish and different readers will define it in their own way. However, I was also prepared to allow myself to be surprised a lot of my friends loved this and one of the biggest criticisms didn't actually bother me - purple prose. Any so-called "dystopia" with a runway model on the front cover leaves me feeling sceptical. You're probably assuming - correctly - that I went into this book with low expectations. I originally gave Shatter Me two stars because that's my sort of kneejerk reaction to books I don't like, but after thinking it over for a while, I can't recall anything positive about it that would justify a rating of more than one star. This is not a novel, it is a collection of similes and metaphors, most of which do not make sense. This moment, also known as the Divergence, marks the end of the Calamity. Eventually, the Prime Deities were victorious and led the Betrayer Gods outside the Material Planes. Great weapons were forged for these champions, imbued with magic like no other. However, once the Betrayer Gods escaped their planal prisons, another war began, a conflict that lasted for centuries and was called the Calamity.ĭuring the Calamity, gods choose champions to fight alongside them and help turn the conflicts' tides. The Primordials would eventually be defeated, and the Betrayer Gods locked away in other planes, which ushered in an era of peace and prosperity in Exandria. The Betrayer Gods would ally with the Primordials, making them enemies to all living things. On the other hand, the Betrayer Gods thought it was a mistake to destroy the Primordials and wanted to leave the world and start anew elsewhere. The Prime Deities decided they would fight to keep their creations alive. The Primordials were not happy to share their lands, so they waged war against the new species.Īt this moment, Exandria’s deity split into two factions. Then came the Creator Gods, who brought life to the world and created the many species that now inhabit the lands, from the gnomes to the mighty dragons. Many millennia ago, the lands that are known as Exandria were inhabited by Primordials, elemental creatures that thrive in chaos. To understand where the Vestiges of Divergence come from, we must first learn how the world of Exandria came to be. If the resource being acquired is currently owned by another thread, the first thread may have to wait for the owning thread to release the target resource. For example, a thread in a multithreaded operating system might acquire one or more resources, such as blocks of memory. Deadlocks are sometimes called a deadly embrace.ĭeadlock is a condition that can occur on any system with multiple threads, not just on a relational database management system, and can occur for resources other than locks on database objects. Deadlocks are resolved almost immediately, whereas blocking can, in theory, persist indefinitely. Eventually, the owning transaction will complete and release the lock, and then the requesting transaction will be granted the lock and proceed. The requesting transaction is blocked, not deadlocked, because the requesting transaction has not done anything to block the transaction owning the lock. By default, SQL Server transactions do not time out, unless LOCK_TIMEOUT is set. When a transaction requests a lock on a resource locked by another transaction, the requesting transaction waits until the lock is released. The application with the transaction that terminated with an error can retry the transaction, which usually completes after the other deadlocked transaction has finished.ĭeadlocking is often confused with normal blocking. This allows the other task to complete its transaction. If the monitor detects a cyclic dependency, it chooses one of the tasks as a victim and terminates its transaction with an error. the SQL Server Database Engine deadlock monitor periodically checks for tasks that are in a deadlock.
